Students and Families
Happy New Year and Welcome back!
Lets hit the ground running as we being the second semester of classes. Please take time to review the information below.
Course Lists in Edgenuity
Courses for Semester 2 will be available in Edgenuity on Friday, January 3, 2020.
Each student is required to take 4 courses total with Indiana Agriculture and Technology within Edgenuity and MyCaert. If you have less than 4 courses listed with Edgenuity, you are expected to take an Agriculture class that is managed with MyCaert.
After reviewing your course list, please contact Mrs. Patty Hagen at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or desired changes, between January 6th to January 10th.
Edgenuity classes officially begin MONDAY, JANUARY 6th!!!
The final grades from the first semester were emailed on December 30th. Take time to review your student’s grades with them.
Please remember that all students should be striving for 280 hours of APD and personal educational experience hours each semester. The school will offer a minimum of 140 hours, and students are asked to earn the remaining hours on their own, turning in a verification form for all hours. The verification form can be found on the school website.
For the spring semester, a Sign-Up Genius link will only be sent for off-site APD’s. All on-farm APD’s will simply have attendance taken upon arrival (both for the Morgantown farm and St. Joe College locations).
For all off-site APD’s with limited attendance, all spots will be filled with students first. There will be no guarantee for parent participation unless the maximum attendance is not reached with students.
We strongly encourage carpooling to all APD’s.
The full APD calendar will be posted on the school website soon. APD’s will continue to be on Tuesdays, at both the Morgantown farm and the St. Joe College campus, unless otherwise notified. Hours will remain from 9 AM-3 PM EST for Morgantown and 9 AM-3 PM CST for Rensselaer.
The January APD calendar is as follows:
TUES 1/14- Syrup production and tree tapping APD (both locations)
TUES 1/21- farm safety APD (both locations)
TUES 1/28- livestock processing (piglets, lambs, kids- needle teeth, iodine dips, tail docking, ear notching, deworming and fecal studies, etc.) APD (both locations)
School-Related Text Messages
Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.
You can participate in this service just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.
You can also opt-out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
IATS is doing its first yearbook! A survey was recently sent out asking if you’d be interested in purchasing a yearbook. Now that we’ve determined enough interest, we are asking that you let us know if you intend on purchasing a yearbook by completing the order form by January 10, 2020. The yearbooks will be approximately $40, but the actual cost will be determined once the number of ordered yearbooks is finalized. In addition, please let Sarah Haag know if you or someone you know might be interested in purchasing advertising space in the yearbook! Our yearbook staff will contact the people and organizations on that list with all of the details!
