RE:         Revised Isolation Guidance/Protocol for Testing Positive for COVID-19

This is to inform our families of our new guidelines, per CDC recommendations, if a student/family member/IATS Staff Personnel test positive for COVID-19.

TESTED POSTIVE FOR COVID-19

Everyone, regardless of vaccination status:

  • Contact the Sarah Haag at shaag@indiana.ag notifying that your student(s) or IATS Staff Personnel has tested positive.
  • Quarantine for 5 days.
  • If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave quarantine.
  • Continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
  • If you have a fever, continue to stay home until your fever resolves.
  • You must have a negative test before you can return to the school’s Active Participation Days, FFA Activities, Field Trips, etc. or to the work environment.

NOTE:  We know there is a shortage of testing kits to purchase and scheduling rapid or PCR tests are being more difficult to schedule with your doctor’s office or testing site. If you cannot get a test done, please call the office so that we can decide on what we need to do moving forward. This will be on an individual basis. We recommend that if you get tested and it comes back positive, you go ahead and schedule another test if they will allow you to schedule.

IF YOU WERE EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WITH COVID-19 (Quarantine)

If you:

Have been boosted OR completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months

  • Wear a mask around others for 10 days
  • Test on day 5, if possible
  • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home.

If you:

Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months OR are unvaccinated

  • Stay home for 5 days. After continuing to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
  • If you cannot quarantine you must wear a mask for 10 days.
  • Test on day 5 if possible.
  • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home.

Our school is unique in that we do not meet face to face daily, only on our Active Participation Days, FFA Activities, Field Trips, etc. So that will help with the process of quarantining if that happens. Our IATS Staff Personnel can work remotely from home if that is warranted.

RULE OF THUMB: If you are not feeling well, then please stay home.

If you have any questions, please contact Keith Marsh at kmarsh@indiana.ag. Thank you for your support in following our guidelines.
