Discover your future in agriculture & technology

Producing a workforce prepared to meet the challenge of accelerating change in every component of agriculture is the primary reason why our school exists.

Middle school core coursework + real-life experiences

Our middle school curriculum, powered by Edgenuity, provides engaging, interactive learning that meets state standards and adapts to various learning styles.

Students have access to real-life experiences on the IATS learning grounds, preparing them for hands-on agricultural and technological education.

high SCHOOL CORE 40 COURSEWORK + iATS Agriculture Engaging Elect

Our high school program ensures students meet Indiana’s Core 40 requirements while offering flexibility for advanced learning.

Students can recover credits, explore career interests, earn dual credits, and engage in Advanced Placement® (AP) courses.

Hands-on agriculture & technology electives provide immersive learning that aligns with career aspirations and industry needs.

high ability learner program

The mission of the IATS High Ability Learner Program is to recognize, support, and respect the exceptional intellectual, academic, and social-emotional needs of high ability learners.

Our goal is to provide students with the knowledge to excel in a global society while fostering skill sets that allow them to perform at outstanding levels in agriculture and technology.

Key characteristics of high ability learners:

  • The ability to learn at an accelerated rate
  • Wider range of interests and deeper analytical thinking
  • Advanced problem solving skills

active participation days (APD)

IATS combines online coursework with hands-on learning through Active Participation Days (APD)—on-site educational experiences at our campuses and partner organizations. These days provide students with real-world exposure to agriculture and technology through activities like:

industry site visits

Engage with professionals at places like Beck’s Seeds, Caterpillar, livestock operations, and orchards.

on-campus training

Participate in hands-on learning at IATS regional campuses, applying skills in crop management, animal science, robotics, and more.

ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION

  • Students enrolled in APD must attend regularly and may not exceed three (3) unexcused absences per semester.
  • If a student misses more than three unexcused APDs, they may be moved to the virtual academic program instead.
  • Absences due to illness or appointments must be reported to the designated teacher at the student’s campus.

TRANSPORTATION & LUNCH

  • Students are responsible for their own transportation to campus and field trip locations.
  • Lunch is not provided; students must bring their own.
  • Students may not leave the farm campus during APD for any reason.

APDs offer invaluable hands-on experiences that prepare students for future careers in agriculture, technology, and related industries. By participating fully, students gain practical skills that enhance their academic and career readiness.

hands-on learning

At Indiana Agriculture & Technology School, we believe that true learning happens through experience. Our hybrid model blends online coursework with in-person, hands-on training, ensuring students develop both academic knowledge and real-world skills. In-person students at our Northeast and Southern campuses experience hands-on learning daily.
