Special Education Team Attends Indiana Council of Administrators of Special Education 2026 Spring Conference

Jodi Eveland, Director of Special Education

Our Special Education Team recently attended the Indiana Council of Administrators of Special Education (ICASE) Spring Conference on February 12–13 in Plainfield, IN. This year’s theme, “The Game Plan: Indiana’s Playbook for Student Success,” focused on taking decisive action to support students through strong leadership, effective IEP practices, compliance, staffing sustainability, and innovative educational strategies. Attending together was especially meaningful, as it marked our first opportunity to engage in intentional professional learning as a unified special education team.

Keynote speaker Britt Reid shared an inspiring message about helping others find the positive in any situation and never giving up hope – an important reminder in the work we do each day. We also participated in breakout sessions covering administrative leadership, legal and compliance updates, specific instructional practices, and student well-being. The experience allowed us to step away from our daily responsibilities, strengthen collaboration, clarify expectations, and ensure greater consistency in services across our district.

We return energized and aligned, ready to apply practical tools and strategies that will enhance how we support students and families. As a fun nod to the conference theme, our team even captured a championship moment with the Vince Lombardi Trophy from Super Bowl LVIII, where the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers – a fitting symbol of teamwork and striving for excellence.
